With landfill taxes high and uncertainty over future increases, it is becoming more cost effective for waste recyclers to bale and export Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).

Case Study Potters Waste Management
Having been awarded a contract to handle RDF waste for Pembrokeshire Council, The Potter Group contacted CK International looking a suitable baling solution. Following consultation with our sales team they installed a CK TR121 XL as the RDF baler of choice and they are delighted with the results they are achieving.
This fully automatic twin ram solid waste baler has a 59kW motor and a 120T press force.
The black bin waste is shredded to below a particle size of 300mm and the shredded waste is then loaded by a chain fed conveyor into a reinforced loading hopper. There is a polyester strapping system on the baler and the bales are fed directly into a crosswrap wrapping line. The wrapped bales are then exported for use in heat and power facilities. The average throughput is 25 tonne/ hr with bale weights of up to 1.4 tonne being produced.
The bales are transported to Europe, with the loaded ship weighing 3500 tonnes.
