For a number of years it has been illegal to dispose of tyres in landfill sites. Disposal of waste tyres is tightly regulated and presents a challenge for this industry.
Your Waste Tyres
Baling tyres can help to reduce costs in the tyre recycling process by significantly reducing transport costs. Traditionally waste tyres have been transported loose, however baling the tyres can reduce volume by up to 85% to maximise the payload of the trucks transporting waste tyres. Baled tyres are commonly used in civil engineering for road construction or they can be broken down and used for energy generation.
CK International manufactures the CK108TB, designed specifically for baling tyres. The CK108TB is PAS108 compliant. The CK108TB has a 60Tonne compaction force and can produce up to 8 bales per hour. The unique tying process ensures that the tyres stay compact ready for transportation. CK International also supplies a full range of consumables that may be needed to support your baler, including baling wire.
Case Study UK Waste Oil
UK Waste Oil were baling tyres for export in a mill size baler designed for baling cardboard. This was a very inefficient way of baling tyres. The bales produced were not compliant with PAS108 and were of a low density. UK Waste Oil were exporting the bales for use in various projects such as roads and foundations. They were looking for ways to make cost savings and they identified transport costs as an area that could be improved.
UK Waste Oil needed a tyre baler that would produce bales in compliance with PAS 108. In consultation with the CK International salesman, it was agreed that the CK Tyre Baler would provide the ideal solution for them and allow them to quickly recoup their costs
Using the CK Tyre Baler, UK Waste Oil are now achieving bale weights of up to 600kg resulting in greatly reduced transport costs for the company. The bales are compliant with PAS108 making the baled product very saleable. Baling the tyres reduces the volume by up to 85% . They are now operating much more efficiently as a result of this investment.
