The Challenge
Mulleady’s was operating an ageing twin ram baler that struggled to keep up with growing volumes of recyclables.
The plant needed a more efficient, reliable solution that could handle diverse materials consistently, improve bale quality, and streamline daily operations.
01
Mulleady’s challenged CK International to design and deliver a cutting-edge replacement for their aging twin ram baler. They needed a solution capable of achieving impressive throughput rates of up to 10 tonnes per hour for fibre and 7 tonnes per hour for plastics, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
A key requirement was integrating a pre-press compaction system, like the one in their existing baler, to maintain the high-quality baling of cardboard and plastic bottles. CK International was tasked with meeting these demanding specifications while delivering a machine tailored to their operational needs.

The Solution
01
Twin-Ram
We analysed the required throughputs and bale densities and conducted a cost-of-life analysis to demonstrate the running costs and savings of using a CK Twin Ram Baler. Together, we decided on a machine that produces bales with dimensions of 1.1m x 1.1m x 1.4m, which would increase throughput and reduce electricity consumption. Additionally, we provided specific platforms and hoppers to integrate with their current MRF plant.
02
Customised Solution
We designed a baler capable of producing bales with dimensions of 1.1m x 1.1m x 1.4m, optimising load weight and transportation efficiency. By Incorporating a pre-press compaction system, it ensured continuity in their baling process for fibre and plastics.
03
Bespoke Integration
Developed customised platforms and hoppers to integrate seamlessly with the existing MRF plant, ensuring minimal disruption during installation and enhanced operational flow.
The Benefits
Improved Throughput
The CKTR121 achieves a processing capacity of 10 tonnes per hour, meeting Mulleady’s requirements and ensuring reliable performance.
Accurate up-to-date information
They opted to use the cloud-based CK Baler Performance Monitoring system. The customer can now alter the bale dimensions at the push of a button. They also have the capability of viewing the baler’s performance. It allows the plant manager to view how many bales have been processed on a daily, monthly or annual basis and highlights any downtime in the machine. This data is available on a web browser or mobile phone.
Opperational Efficiency
The tailored design allowed for seamless integration, reducing downtime and improving overall productivity.
