Baling aluminium cans reduces landfill costs, minimises transport and storage costs and the baled product can be sold.

Metal & Aluminium

Baled cans
CK International manufacture a range of balers that can bale metal waste such as aluminium cans and food cans.

The balers can compress the metal cans using a relatively high press force to produce a bale that is easy to handle and costs less to transport. The baled product can be sold.

Case Study

Anglesey Council operates a household waste and recycling collection service throughout the island.

They approached CK International looking a baling and compacting solution to help them in the recycling of metal cans from kerbside collections.

Following site surveys and consultations, CK International recommended the installation of three balers from the semi-automatic range, two CK600HFE balers to bale steel cans and aluminium cans and a CK850HFE to bale cardboard and larger steel cans.

The kerbside waste collection is tipped onto a conveyor which feeds the waste into a sorting plant with a four man picking station.

An over-band magnet feeds the steel cans into a CK600HFE baler while an eddy current separator discharges the aluminium cans into the other CK600HFE baler.

The management of this site are delighted with the results. The CK600HFE balers are typically producing 500kg mill sized bales while 850kg mill sized bales are produced from the CK850HFE.

The CK600 series includes the original CK horizontal baler, and has been used by waste recyclers, distribution centres, and companies with large volumes of waste for years. The CK600 series is exclusively horizontally tie machines, and have an extremely high shear capacity.
