CK International Women in Engineering: Celebrating International Women’s Day
Today, 8th March, marks International Women’s Day—a day to celebrate women helping to build a gender-balanced world. At CK International, we actively support women in engineering and celebrate their achievements across every department. Our Wo/men’s network advocates for equality, justice, and the empowerment of female employees.
Breaking the Bias in Engineering
This year’s theme, #BreakTheBias, reflects CK International’s commitment to encouraging women to engage in all aspects of engineering. Women at CK International speak assertively, take on leadership roles, and contribute to innovative projects across the company.
A study by Engineering UK under the WES Group in June 2021 found that women make up 14.5% of all engineers in the UK. Since 2016, this represents a 25.7% increase in women entering engineering roles, showing the industry’s slow but steady progress.
Catherine Mc Crossan’s Engineering Journey
We asked Design Engineer Catherine Mc Crossan why she chose engineering and her advice for aspiring female engineers:
Why engineering?
“I’ve always loved machinery and hands-on work. Engineering offered diverse roles, and I was excited by the challenge.”
Why should women pursue engineering?
“It’s important to follow your career goals, even in a male-dominated sector. More women entering engineering helps break stereotypes.”
Challenges faced:
“My main challenge is proving my competence daily, but every day is a learning opportunity.”
Advice for young girls:
“If you’re interested in engineering, go for it! Learn from experienced colleagues but make your voice heard.”
Celebrating Our Female Engineers
We are proud of our talented female employees at CK International. Their dedication and skill are helping to break the bias in engineering and inspire future generations of women in the industry.
