The Challenge
Mulleady’s needed to increase the efficiency of their recycling operations and improve bale density to reduce transport costs.
With growing volumes of cardboard to process, they sought a solution that could handle larger loads, streamline operations, and deliver consistent, high-quality bales.
01
Following the successful installation of their twin ram baler and the commissioning of their new plant, Mulleady’s quickly realised the potential to process significantly more material. With a high volume of fibre material flowing through the plant, they faced a new challenge: ensuring steady, efficient baling of fibre while maximising the twin ram baler’s capacity for plastics and other DMR.
02
To meet this demand, they decided to install a dedicated channel press baler for single-stream baling of fibre. The new baler needed to handle up to 10 tonnes of cardboard and mixed paper per hour with consistent, reliable performance. Once again, they turned to CK International to provide the right solution for their evolving needs.

The Solution
01
SR16 Provided Current and Future Needs.
After a thorough consultation, Mulleady’s once again chose CK International and opted for the CKSR16 channel press baler. This high-performance baler features a 4-wire vertical tie system, producing 500kg to 550kg bales of fibre with consistent density and quality.
The CKSR16 operates at a steady throughput of 4 tonnes per hour, with the capacity to handle higher volumes during peak periods, ensuring Mulleady’s can efficiently manage fluctuating demands while maintaining operational efficiency. This tailored solution highlights CK International’s commitment to delivering equipment that meets both current and future needs.
02
Compatibility with Existing Plant Equipment
This versatile baler is ideal for handling high volumes of material and integrates seamlessly with internal automation systems such as conveyors, chutes, and bin lifts.
03
Improved Efficiency
The second baler has significantly enhanced efficiency at Mulleady’s Waste Recycling by increasing bale weights, improving the return on paper commodities, enabling easy adjustment of bale dimensions at the push of a button, and boosting throughput to support their expanding operations, ultimately driving greater production and operational success.
The Benefits
Improved Throughput
The CKSR16 achieves a processing capacity of 10 tonnes per hour, meeting Mulleady’s requirements and ensuring reliable performance.
Accurate, Up-to-Date Information
They opted to use the cloud-based CK Baler Performance Monitoring system. The customer can now alter the bale dimensions at the push of a button. They also have the capability of viewing the baler’s performance. It allows the plant manager to view how many bales have been processed on a daily, monthly or annual basis and highlights any downtime in the machine. This data is available on a web browser or mobile phone.
Integration with Existing Conveyor
The customer had a previous third-party conveyor which was then integrated with the CKSR16 controls to increase safety features onsite and manage the material.
